The Queensland Party: A new beginning

The Queensland Party: A new beginning.

After Aidan McLindon quit as leader of the Queensland Party he simply assumed everyone else would follow him over to Bob Katter’s as yet unnamed and unregistered mob. This didn’t really come as much of a surprise to me. Stories of Aidan bullying his staffers had become regular political collumn filler material. He seemed to think that just because he founded the party he could do whatever he liked with it.

To a certain degree he was right. As the only sitting member he knew that if he left the party it could dissolve. They would then have to prove they had 500 members to stay registered. tricky when your ex-boss is trying to hijack the membership roll. Yesterday he announced 6 more Katter candidates swiped from the Queensland Party.

But it ain’t over yet. The electoral commission may be breathing down their necks but it should be possible to replenish the ranks within a couple of weeks.
